Teacher Terms — Pratiqo

Version: 1.0 · Last updated: May 2026

⚠️ Important: This document supplements Pratiqo's Terms of Service and applies to teachers, tutors, instructors, mentors, and other service providers who offer lessons through Pratiqo. It is not legal advice.

1. Identification of the operator

Cours Pratiqo Inc. (“Pratiqo”) operates the Pratiqo platform, a marketplace connecting students, parents, and independent teachers.

These Teacher Terms should be read together with the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cancellation Policy, and Code of Conduct.

2. Scope of these Teacher Terms

These Teacher Terms apply to any person who offers, advertises, organizes, or delivers teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or training services through Pratiqo.

In this document, “teacher” also includes tutors, instructors, mentors, and other learning service providers using Pratiqo.

3. Independent contractor status

The teacher acts as an independent service provider. The teacher is not an employee, agent, partner, franchisee, representative, or joint venturer of Cours Pratiqo Inc.

  • Pratiqo is a marketplace and technology intermediary.
  • The teacher controls their own teaching methods, availability, pricing where the platform allows it, work organization, and tax obligations.
  • Nothing in these Teacher Terms creates an employment, partnership, agency, franchise, or joint venture relationship between the teacher and Cours Pratiqo Inc.
  • The teacher remains responsible for their equipment, teaching environment, and legal compliance.

4. No guarantee of income, students, bookings, ranking, or visibility

Pratiqo does not guarantee:

  • students;
  • booking volume;
  • minimum or recurring income;
  • search ranking;
  • profile views;
  • conversion rates;
  • business, teaching, or financial results.

A profile's visibility may vary based on demand, location, availability, relevance, profile quality, reviews, responsiveness, safety policies, and other factors that may change over time.

5. Teacher profile accuracy

The teacher must provide accurate, current, and non-misleading information.

This includes:

  • their real name or accurate professional identity;
  • disciplines, levels, skills, experience, and methods;
  • prices, lesson formats, availability, and service areas;
  • teaching locations and online or at-home options;
  • diplomas, certifications, licences, or affiliations when displayed.

Displayed diplomas, certifications, and professional titles must be genuine. Pratiqo may request supporting documents. Self-declared experience must not be presented as verified by Pratiqo unless Pratiqo has expressly verified it.

6. Credentials, verification, and trust-signal clarification

Signals displayed on Pratiqo have distinct meanings:

  • Identity verified: Pratiqo or a verification provider has confirmed certain identity elements.
  • Diploma verified: a specific diploma or credential has been reviewed under the applicable process.
  • Self-declared experience: the teacher provided the information, but it is not necessarily verified.
  • Profile completeness: certain profile information has been completed.
  • Paid plan or Pro Member: this is a product or commercial status (e.g., the Pro Member membership), not a teaching-quality certification.

These signals do not guarantee teaching quality, learning outcomes, absolute safety, future teacher availability, or the absence of complaints.

7. Teacher obligations

The teacher agrees to:

  • deliver lessons professionally, prepared, and on time;
  • respect confirmed schedules and communicate promptly if an issue arises;
  • use Pratiqo messaging where required by the platform;
  • protect student and parent personal information;
  • maintain a safe, appropriate, and lawful teaching environment;
  • comply with the Code of Conduct and Cancellation Policy;
  • avoid discriminatory, harassing, sexual, intimidating, abusive, or inappropriate conduct;
  • not provide unsafe, illegal, or non-educational services through Pratiqo.

8. Minors and home lessons

Teachers must exercise extra care when a student is a minor.

  • Parent or legal guardian involvement or authorization may be required.
  • Where personal information is collected from a user or student under 14, parent or legal guardian authorization is required according to the modalities deployed by the platform, subject to applicable law.
  • For minors, a parent or guardian should be present or reachable during the lesson, depending on the student's age, context, and location.
  • Unnecessary, ambiguous, or inappropriate private communications with minors are prohibited.
  • Lessons must take place in safe, appropriate, and lawful settings.
  • At-home lessons with minors require additional safeguards. The founder decision, subject to lawyer validation, is to require criminal-background or records verification for teachers who want to offer at-home lessons with minors, according to the modalities deployed by the platform.
  • If that verification is not operational, at-home lessons with minors should not be offered or should be limited until the applicable process is deployed.
  • The teacher may refuse a location or situation that they reasonably consider unsafe, inappropriate, or non-compliant.
  • Any incident or concern involving student safety must be reported promptly to support@pratiqo.ca. In an emergency, contact emergency services first.

9. Communication and off-platform conduct

The teacher must not attempt to bypass Pratiqo.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • moving a booking or payment off-platform to avoid Pratiqo fees, commissions, or rules;
  • soliciting direct payment before, during, or after an introduction created by Pratiqo;
  • unnecessarily sharing personal contact details before a confirmed booking;
  • encouraging a student or parent to avoid Pratiqo's payment, messaging, or booking tools.

Pratiqo may suspend, restrict, or remove an account for circumvention or attempted circumvention.

10. Cancellations, no-shows, and refunds

Cancellations, no-shows, rescheduling, and refund requests are governed by the Cancellation Policy.

Teacher conduct may affect a student's refund eligibility, a payout hold, or the opening of a resolution case. No-shows, repeated lateness, late cancellations, misrepresentations, or lesson-delivery issues may lead to enforcement action.

11. Payouts, holds, reversals, and chargebacks

Teacher payouts may be delayed, held, adjusted, reversed, or offset in cases involving:

  • a refund or refund request;
  • a dispute, chargeback, or bank contestation;
  • suspected fraud, abuse, or circumvention;
  • an identity, tax, or regulatory compliance issue;
  • a safety complaint, student complaint, or internal investigation;
  • violation of these Teacher Terms, the Terms of Service, or the Code of Conduct;
  • a lesson not delivered, substantially non-conforming, or treated as a teacher no-show.

Stripe, bank, and payment-provider timelines may affect when a payout or refund appears.

Where permitted by law and platform rules, Pratiqo may recover from future payouts amounts linked to a no-show, misconduct, misrepresentation, fraud, policy breach, chargeback, or failed lesson delivery attributable to the teacher.

The teacher is responsible for taxes, permits, licences, invoices, filings, and other legal obligations that apply to them.

Pratiqo may provide certain receipts, reports, or transaction history, but does not provide tax, accounting, or legal advice. The teacher should consult their own professional advisor.

13. Intellectual property and uploaded content

The teacher must own or have the necessary rights to any content they upload, publish, or share on Pratiqo.

  • Copyrighted content may not be used without authorization.
  • The teacher grants Pratiqo a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, host, reproduce, and use the teacher's profile and content for platform operation, promotion of the teacher's profile, and service delivery.
  • Pratiqo may remove content that is infringing, misleading, inappropriate, or contrary to platform policies.

14. Confidentiality and privacy

The teacher must protect student and parent personal information.

Without authorization, the teacher must not publish or share:

  • screenshots of conversations;
  • audio or video recordings;
  • personal contact details;
  • school, family, medical, or financial information;
  • any information identifying a student or parent outside what is necessary for the lesson.

Pratiqo's collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

15. Reviews, ratings, badges, and ranking

Reviews and ratings may be moderated under Pratiqo's Code of Conduct and trust rules.

Badges, verifications, profile statuses, and commercial statuses are not guarantees of quality, results, absolute safety, or placement.

Ranking and visibility may depend on factors such as relevance, availability, location, profile quality, reviews, responsiveness, safety signals, policy compliance, and other criteria. Pratiqo may change its ranking, search, or recommendation systems without guaranteeing any particular placement.

16. Suspension, removal, and enforcement

Depending on the severity of the situation, Pratiqo may:

  • issue a notice of non-compliance with marketplace standards;
  • restrict certain features;
  • hide or remove a public profile;
  • suspend or close an account;
  • hold a payout where appropriate;
  • refuse a new registration;
  • request additional documents or information.

These measures may apply in cases involving a safety issue, fraud, off-platform payment solicitation, false or misleading profile, harassment, discrimination, repeated no-shows, chargebacks, policy violations, or legal risk.

Pratiqo may investigate reports and request the teacher's cooperation.

17. Relationship with Pro Member

Pro Member, if offered, is a separate optional paid membership that may be subject to subscription terms or additional terms. The Pro Member status may give access to economic advantages such as a reduced commission or a conditional retroactive commercial volume rebate, where Pratiqo offers them. This rebate is calculated according to the eligible annual volume generated by the teacher on the Pratiqo marketplace; it is not participation in Cours Pratiqo Inc.'s profits, a financial return, an investment, or guaranteed income. YoPratiqo and other separate self-paced products are excluded.

At launch, Pro Member is displayed at $29.99 CAD / month + applicable taxes, billed monthly in advance, renews automatically, and can be cancelled any time from the dashboard or by writing to support@pratiqo.ca. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.

Pratiqo may modify commissions, subscription prices, or plan conditions prospectively, with prior notice compliant with applicable law. Where required by law, affected users may cancel before the change takes effect.

Pro Member does not guarantee income, students, bookings, ranking, visibility, profile views, or business results. The teacher remains an independent contractor. The detailed Pro Member terms are governed by the Pro Member Terms.
